Worried

Just wondering why Janna hasn't learned to sit on her own. Even if we let her sit with support, she still can't balance her weight if we let go of her. Ilang months ba natututo umupo ang baby? According to her pedia, it's between 5 - 6 months daw. In two weeks time 6 months na siya, bakit di pa din siya marunong umupo? Do I need to worry?

I was thinking of buying her a Bumbo seat, kaso it's so expensive, tapos sandali ko lang gagamitin. Hubby told me na we should be patient and wait for her nalang to learn.

We'll start to canvass for a booster seat already. The lola is quite more excited than the mom hahaha!

-ooOoo-

Last night, when I'm teaching Janna to say "Mommy" and "Daddy", she said "Ma!" ... and when I asked her na ulitin niya... sabi niya ulit "Ma!" So baka coincidence lang

She calls her dad "a-i" ... nawala yung "d" hahaha! Jason called from Davao, I put my cellphone to loudspeaker so Janna can hear him. She hold the cellphone and flip it to see where the sound is coming. Then she said "a-i". Natawa si Jason. Tapos everytime may question si Jason like "Kumain na ba baby ko?" o "naging mabait ba kay mommy ang baby ko?" she would answer in a babbling way ... hahaha as in parang may conversation talaga sila mag-ama. Nakakatuwa.

Quick Break

I'll be MIA for a couple of days. I'll just take care of my little one for a while. She's been sick with colds since last Friday night. She even got a fever last Saturday after her emergency pedia visit. She's already well last Sunday but unfortunately, just today, colds went back again. Good thing she has no fever. Blame it on the weather, hot by day, cold by dawn tsk! I myself have a series of allergy attacks (skin asthma due to hot weather and rhinitis due to hamog sa umaga). She's under medication right now, nebulize every 4 hours with Normal Saline Solution (NSS). She like it though, the steam coming out of the tubes.

Just a while ago, she was laughing so hard ... biglang lumobo yung sipon niya sa ilong. Jason and I were laughing so hard. Tsk tsk tsk! Nakakaawa talaga magkasakit ang baby. Nakakaloka!

P.S.
I'll be answering QOTW and Coffee Break ver.1.39 very late hehehe ... I'll do it pag may time na ako.

Teether

I thought Janna is already teething, the last time she's in a gigil mood, she bite my finger so hard and cried after that. We decided to buy her a teether. I bought a Munchkin brand from Angela Moira Store. And the other we bought at SM. We bought two s0 we can alternately use it. But her lola also bought her two from Chicco hehehe. She now have four teethers all chillin' inside our fridge.

As I predicted, she enjoyed it at first. After that, she don't want to use it anymore ... hay such a waste of money again. I wish I just waited till it's really time. She's not teething naman pala ... nanggigil lang hehehe. She likes licking them though. Now, she's drooling twice than before.

Hmmm ... I think she thought it's a popsicle :)

Sleeping Habits

I'm beginning to worry about Janna's sleeping habits. It's just that it feels that she sleeps more than eat and playing. She can sleep thru the night already, wakes up at 6:00a.m., she'll eat, play with her dad, then goes back to sleep at 7:00 a.m. Wakes up at 10:00am, she'll eat and play a little then I'll give her a bath. After that she'll watch TV a little, by the time she's in her lying in chest position, she'll fall asleep by herself. After 2 hours she'll wake again to eat. Then play and tummy time exercise. Then she'll take a nap again. After that she'll wake up again, eat, play and nap again ... she'll sleep at 10:00pm ... hay o hay ...

When I told her pedia about this, she told me that babies from birth to 6 months usually sleeps 15-16 hours a day including short and long naps. And as long as when she wakes up, she's active and smiling, and talks to you, then she's fine.

According to babycenter.com, this is what I've found out:

As a new parent, that's probably one of your biggest questions. Below are some general guidelines as to how many hours of sleep the average child requires at various ages. Of course, every child is different — some need up to two hours more or less sleep than others.

AgeNighttime SleepDaytime Sleep *Total Sleep
1 month8 1/27 (3) 15 1/2
3 months105 (3)15
6 months113 1/4 (2)14 1/4
9 months 113 (2)14
12 months11 1/42 1/2 (2)13 3/4
18 months 11 1/42 1/4 (1)13 1/2
2 years 112 (1)13
3 years 10 1/21 1/2 (1)12
* number of naps in parentheses

Keep in mind that most children need lots of sleep. Often, says BabyCenter sleep expert Jodi Mindell, author of Sleeping Through the Night, if a child has poor sleep habits or refuses to go to bed before 11 at night, his parents will think that he just doesn't need a lot of sleep. That's probably not true — in fact, it's likely that such a child is actually sleep-deprived. To see whether your child falls into that camp, ask yourself these questions:

• Does your child fall asleep almost every time he's in a car?

• Do you have to wake your child almost every morning?

• Does your child seem cranky, irritable, or overtired during the day?

• On some nights, does your child seem to crash much earlier than his usual bedtime?

If you answered "yes" to any of these, your child may be getting less sleep than he needs. To change this pattern, you'll need to help him develop good sleep habits and set an appropriate bedtime. "Then he'll get all the sleep he needs to be bright-eyed and bushy-tailed," Mindell says.

As he gets older, your child will probably stop napping and start doing all of his sleeping at night. Preschoolers and young elementary school students still need up to 10 or 11 hours of sleep a night, but that amount will gradually decrease. By the time he's a teenager, your child will need only about nine or 10 hours of shut-eye per night. To find out more about children's sleep patterns, take our quiz.

Someone is sick

Janna had her 2nd IPD vaccine yesterday. She's one brave baby, she didn't even cried out loud when her Pedia prick her very big thighs. She did cry a little but not that loud. At home she's so busy playing with her lolo and lola, drinks lots of milk and take naps in between. I thought she'll be fine coz I'm worried she might have fever. Her pedia told us that most likely she will have a fever with this vaccine.

Around 1:00 a.m, I was awaken by her because she keeps on tossing and turning in her crib. I just took a peek on her and she stopped. So I just went back to bed. Before I could fall asleep again, she did it again. I thought maybe she wanted to be cuddled, wanted to sleep on my chest. Cause she always do that. So I carried her and she cried, and was alarmed on her temperature.

I waked Jason up and told him that Janna has a fever (40 degrees celsius). He panicked a bit and held Janna onto him. I took her medicine from her medicine kit and Jason let her sipped it. After that she vomits, spilling out all the medicine and some milk. She is now soaked with vomit and I panicked. I told my mom that Janna has a fever. She immediately got a face towel and pour cold water on it. Put it on Janna's forehead (arrrgghhh why don't we have Cool Fever that time.) Mom said that I should watch her temperature, baka daw magka-kumbulsyon. Yaiks! Now I'm so worried. Around 2:30 a.m. she fell asleep already and her temperature went down a bit. Thank God for that.

This morning, she woke as if nothing happened last night. She smiles, coos, laughs at everyone just like what she's doing everyday. I'm now finally relieved. Thank you, Lord for making my baby feel well.

It's not only Janna who is sick, my bunsong kapatid also was diagnosed with muscle strains. He's already staying in my Aunt's condo unit, he has no one to turn to for help. He called my Dad that his having a hard time lifting his head and arms. The pains already killing him. To the rescue my Dad is, they went to FEU hospital after fetching him. Muscle strain daw ang dahilan. Kaya eto he needs to stay here at home because he needs Mom's tender loving care. I think he's already ok now ... I could hear his voice from the next room laughing out loud watching TV hehehe. Naku, di kaya you miss us lang kaya ka nagkasakit? hahaha!

"Ber" Months are here again

Today starts the first day of the "ber" months. I can already feel Christmas is just around the corner. I'm pretty excited about it coz it's our first Christmas with Janna. And also our first time to celebrate our birthdays and our anniversary with her. I need to consider also, the family from both sides wanted to spend their time with Janna as well.

I decided to post more on my blogspot site than on my wordpress site. Wala lang, I just felt na this is really my home. And how can you maintain two blogs with same post, same photos ... parang kino-clone ko sarili kong blog di ba?

Next week marks Janna's 4th month. She already have lots of milestone lately that I'll be blogging this coming days. It's so fascinating talaga to watch your baby grow. Kaya we bought a new rechargeable battery to capture her milestones. The old ones were better used with my Canon Powershot A400 camera. The Canon S3IS consumes more power.

I haven't started printing out her photos from her Christening ... so scrapping her photos was set aside for awhile. But I promise to start soon.

I also wanted to start on planning for her first birthday ... pero hindi kasi namin alam kung will do a Jollibee/Mcdo party or themed ones ... I know themed parties are very expensive ... but siyempre I want her first birthday to be so memorable. Isa pa, I wanted a different party so yung mga kids ng friends namin eh maiba naman ang ma-experience when it comes to children's party. Next year din, we're planning to move out of my parents house. Kaya medyo dadami talaga expenses namin this coming year. For the meantime, I have to set aside planning her birthday.

I visited some ka-bloggie friends who are now expecting their first borns. Nakakatuwa kasi halos kasabayan ko sila nagpi-pray sa isa't-isa on having our babies na. And so happy for them na magkakaron na din sila ng bundle of joy weeeeeee. Kaya Nikki (uy lapit na sis, kaka-excite), Heidi, Mari, Berns, Thet, Maeyo and Cheche ... ingats kayo palagi ha :) eat well, saka nyo na problemahin ang body fats. Enjoy your pregnancy ... post your preggy pics ha :)

And to Irene, Tin, Alynn, Nette and Chie who delivered their first born already, goodluck on breastfeeding! And hope to see more photos of baby Andi, Penoy, Elijah, Mackenzie and Lucas ... Tin, better luck next time nalang tayo ... may sususnod pa naman na baby, so malay natin, makapag-breastfeed na tayo that time di ba?

Hanggang dito na muna ... My two babies are taking a nap so I'll be joining them now... inggit ako eh hahaha.

Enfant, A Couple's Day Out and Christening Preparations

My mom can't get enough of Enfant... dati cloth diapers lang binibili niya, ngayon pati wardrobe bumibili na. Ang mahal mahal ng damit dun for crying out loud. I'm planning to buy stuffs din naman from there kaso hindi muna ngayon kasi di pa naman ganun ma-a-appreciate dahil she's too little pa. Pag may special occasions bibili ako ng dress diyan. Actually, I saw ahat na so pretty na sa tingin ko bagay sa kanya. Pwede gamitin sa malalamig na lugar like sa mall and sa Tagaytay at Baguio.

Well, my mom's already showing early signs of being a stage lola. The reason why she bought all this stuffs for Baby Janna dahil gusto niya isali sa SM Star Baby. Susme, is it too early for Baby Janna to join such contest? hehehe ... I myself wanted my Baby Janna to be Enfant's Baby of the Month. Am I showing early signs of being a stage mom? Hahahaha! Ang bilis ng karma!

Eto pa, mom bought this Baptismal Gown from Purple Candy. It's on sale kaya she grabbed it agad. It's so pretty, di ko nga maintindihan bat di namin nakita ito ni Jason last time we went there. After the ceremony nalang daw suotin ni Baby Janna yung binili namin na dress.

Last Sunday, Jason and I went for a Baby Janna-free day. Siya din naman ang reason kaya kami lumabas nung Sunday kasi on a hunt nga kami ng baptismal gown niya. We went to our parish church first to request a letter of permission para sa christening ni Baby Janna sa Twin Hearts.

9 years na kami magkakilala (7 years na kami nung nagpakasal kami). Nag-celebrate kami sa CPK ... would you believe na first time ko kumain dito? And I must agree, masarap pala ang food dun, even ang ice tea. At least that time makakasama na si Baby Janna kasi nabinyagan na siya nun. hehehe and she'll turn 3 months na rin in a few days.

In two weeks, bibinyagan na ang baby ko. Everything's all set na, documents and full payments nalang. We set a meeting with Ging Lorenzo on July 19. And I'm praying hindi maging cranky si Baby Janna because of a lot of people carrying her and not to mention the diapers she's wearing hehehe.

Marunong na magtipid

Baby Janna already know the art of "pagtitipid" ... or was it just coincidence? Coincidence because she had diaper rash a week ago. And since she's using diapers from day 1, my mom told us that she needs to wear "lampin" for the time being ... hanggang mawala lang daw yung kanyang diaper rash.

Until now Jason haven't bought any diapers ... nakakatipid na kami dahil mas pinili na ni Baby Janna for her to use cloth diapers. Goodluck to us pag time to visit her pedia, baka ayaw na niya mag-diapers huhuhu. Blame it on our very humid climate this past few days.

She uses 4 dozen of lampin a day ... thank God for maids ... they washed up all Janna's soiled lampin regularly ... every morning, afternoon and night.

Initially, we bought only 2 dozens of cloth diapers. Last week, mom bought additional 2 dozens ... and planning more to buy dozens of it.

Another thing, she doesn't want herself stuck in an aircon room. Ayan tuloy, my asthma and skin asthma has been eating me up this past few weeks.

Julianna Alyssa @ 1 Month Old

Your baby may gurgle, coo, grunt, and hum to express his feelings. A few babies also begin squealing and laughing. Be sure to coo and gurgle back, and talk to your baby face to face. He'll enjoy holding your gaze now.

If you have things to do, your baby will still enjoy hearing your voice from across the room. And don't feel silly about talking baby talk — babies are particularly attuned to this high-pitched, drawn-out way of communicating that can actually teach your baby about the structure and function of language.

SOURCE: www.babycenter.com

We celebrated Julianna's 1st month birthday twice. One was last Sunday with her Lola Perly and Tito Jade, and yesterday with the Recta Family. She's getting bigger already, according to her pedia. May weight target kasi kami for her na dapat in two weeks mag-gain siya ng 600 grams. She still looks like her dad, as everybody else says ... pero she's getting prettier.

We just ordered food nalang from Goldilocks. Last Sunday we had Sotanghon Guisado, Kare-kare, Double Dutch Rolls, Lumpiang Shanghai ... but yesterday, we only cooked spaghetti and mom bought a cake from Red Ribbon ... sa kasawiang palad, wala din photos kahapon dahil tulog ang birthday celebrant. Ayaw makisama sa camera hehehe.

Here's our first ever family picture... susme, ang putla ko diyan halatang walang tulog. Kulot-kulot pa buhok ko ano ba yan hahaha! Kailangan ko na magpagupit waaaaahhhhh!

Baptismal Preparation Updates
Jason and I decided to move Julianna's Christening from Sept. 13 to July 26, 2008. Good thing some of our prospect suppliers are still available on the said date. Jason already booked the church and reception venue. I'll gonna get Ging Lorenzo as our photographer for the event. I'll coordinate with her pag plantsado na yung oras na napa-reserve namin on both locations. Although we'll gonna get the baptismal package from the reception venue, I'm thinking of making some DIY stuffs for Julianna. Mai voluntered to help me on making her invites and guestbook. I so love her, I know she's good when it comes to digiscrapping kaya alam ko maganda ang kalalabasan. Ngayon palang, salamat Mai sa iyong tulong.

Tips! Tips! Tips!

Jason and I are first time parents. We always make it a point to consult advices from our friends and family on what things to be bought for baby J. Good thing one of my friend and ka-bloggie Azrael shared some buying tips for soon to be parents. I've been bugging him for days on what to buy for baby J. And he got inspired to blog about his shopping experience for his baby Aila.

So if you need some tips, maybe he can help you. Don't worry, it's so informative and entertaining as well. I was laughing so hard when I read his post (sorry bro, can't help it!) Don't forget to leave some love on his blog if you liked his entry. He wanted to know what soon to be parents would react on his entry hehehe!

Oh Az, thanks for the MP3's ... Baby J liked it so much ... she's up all day. I think she enjoyed listening.
